As Bit8’s chief executive officer, Angelo Dalli is responsible for leading the company’s product development, business and technology strategy. Angelo co-founded Bit8 with Keith Galea and Brian Fenech after identifying the need for an intelligent backend system that positively impacts the operator’s bottom line while providing an awesome player experience. Angelo has joined Bit8 as its CEO in 2013 and has led the company through its initial growth phase and its first external financing round.
Anton Cristina took over the CSL business in October 2008 and transformed it from a traditional box shifter to a Services Business, which is today the leading IT Outsourcing provider in Malta. The company was a loss making garage company which employed 9 people and over the past six years it tripled its head count, turns over $10million a year and acquired a new client base of 100 + companies in the Gaming and Financial Services sectors.
Anton has been in the IT Industry for the past 15 years. He left Malta early 90’s after finishing University as the conditions of the Maltese economy at the time lacked opportunity since Public Sector dominated the economic climate. Anton went to America to further his education at New Hampshire University on the East Coast, just about 60km outside of Boston. He was fascinated with the American Corporations and their attitude towards being leaders, pioneers and strive to be the best of the best at what they do. An attitude whereby people push the envelope and endorse creativity as important ingredients in their work, whilst comparing this to the conservative, controlling & closed culture experienced in Malta back in the 90’s. At that time Anton couldn’t see himself ever going back on his home turf, as his interest at that point was to understand what shaped the culture of the American corporations and at the same time try to understand why he felt so much at home in America.
The answer to his question was simple – “NO FEAR”, as it is fear that holds human beings back from doing what they could do by letting go. It is fear that kills creativity and doesn’t allow human beings to endorse change as an opportunity and not a threat. At that point his professor at University saw Anton’s increasing interest in Technology and led him to gain an academical view of Big Technology companies, like IBM. Anton could see how technology was already changing and impacting the way we did business in the 90’s and it’s fast paced advancements and achievements. He saw his future in the Technology Business and focused on getting a job with IBM which he achieved. He then moved back to Europe and went to Sweden in the late 90’s, after which he progressed to Ireland, during the times of the Celtic Tiger.
He moved around within the IBM corporation and gained exposure through the Strategic Outsourcing division of IBM Global Services. Anton saw large enterprise companies that were dominating and shaping the global economy through the eyes of Big Blue. When the recession kicked in 2008 due to a very troubled Financial Services Industry, Anton saw an opportunity back on his home ground and decided it was time to go back Home. Malta had just been granted EU accession in 2004 and needed to transition to a knowledge based economy. The Maltese government showed a strong political will and determination to diversify the economic fabric of the country, and clearly knew that the vision for the country could only be achieved through Privatisation & Investment in Science & Technology plus a legislative framework that supports it. Anton is today well established as a leader and successful entrepreneur in the Maltese market, who strives to make a difference through Technology.
Engel & Völkers Sara Grech
From a young age Benjamin Grech studied in the UK at Charterhouse school, a boarding school just south of London. He attended the University of Nottingham in the UK where he read Architecture & Environmental Design to pursue his dream to become an architect; in 2010 Benjamin graduated with MEng. Hons.
In the months after completing his architectural studies Benjamin joined a renowned architectural practice on Bond Street, London. Within a year he joined a more prominent practice based in Berlin, Germany where he worked on a number of large-scale projects, gaining further technical experience within the architectural practice. After several years practising within the architectural environment Benjamin returned back to Malta to get involved in the world of real estate, eager to make changes through his passion for the built environment and experiences overseas. He has been involved in the real estate business from a very early age; officially started gaining experience as an agent at the age of 17.
Upon his return to Malta, late 2012 both Ms Grech & Mr Grech knew that it was time to give their business a new edge and offer higher quality services with access to an international network. Sara Grech Ltd. a household name locally and enjoying a good reputation co-branded with Engel & Völkers a premium international real estate brand. Christer Jansson is CEO of Confident Approach, a human resources firm specializing in HR training, psychometric testing and optimization of human resources. Christer is also a certified Belbin trainer, focusing on sales call reluctance, selling style profiling, analaysis of trainer as well as career styles inventory among others.
Christer specializes in helping sales people and sales organizations to raise their productivity. More calls, visits, closing etc he has two delivery options: in-house trainers, training companies in the research, concepts and tools. It´s a very cost effective way. Christer also runs a number of specialized open workshops per year for sales managers and trainers that want to understand more about the psychology of sales call reluctance. Overall efficiency and efficacy is enhanced by adopting Christer’s training methods, irrespective of department.
Ebbe Groes, 51, is Chief Executive Officer and the main shareholder of EveryMatrix.
Ebbe founded BetBrain.com 2001, a leading odds comparison site which itself was a spin off from robot technology company Kapow, which he co-founded in 1998. EveryMatrix was founded, with Stian Hornsletten, in 2008.
EveryMatrix provides a fully managed sportsbook, a back end system for player and payments handling, and an advanced casino games aggregation application.
He holds an MSc and PhD in Economics and in the past has worked at the University of Copenhagen and Copenhagen Stock Exchange.
Eric Benz, Managing Director at Cryptopay, has been involved in the ‘payments technology sector’ for the best part of a decade and has delivered retail payment solutions for the world’s largest merchant brands transforming the way in which they sell and ship to their worldwide customers. Eric continues to lead innovative Pay-Tech solutions for the rapidly emerging digital currency and mobile wallet markets. His specialties lye in providing and integrating a wide range of merchant services in combination with accelerating brand and product development.
Georg Westin, from Casino Saga, is a broad leader that has a big interest in both the business and the technical/product development part of running successful companies. Westin can discuss detailed business strategies as well as how to handle large scale IT projects due to my history in both fields.
