iGaming Idol rolled out the red carpet

22 awards were handed out outstanding achievements of the iGaming Sector

iGaming is a fundamental part of Maltese life, employing over 12,000 people and contributing over €1.2 billion and 12 per cent towards the national GDP. With that in mind, iGaming Idol has become the Oscars of the iGaming Industry, a sector that has deemed Malta the iGaming island.

The successful ceremony is in its third year and was held in the renowned InterContinental on September 26th. The esteemed awards were announced by a number of expert hosts including industry veteran Michael Casselli and CalvinAyre reporter Rebecca Liggero.

The ceremony was packed to the rafters with over 500 industry experts.

Winners came from a broad variety of companies, George Debrincat of Kindred Group snapped up the Hall of Fame, Birdzhan Hyuseinova of NetEnt won Casino Dealer Idol of the Year, GIG achieved Employer Branding of the Year and David Borg from Mr Green won Payments Idol of the Year.  This milestone comes just after Mr Green celebrated ten years in the industry.

Hon Silvio Schembri, Junior Minister for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation remarked, “we want to embrace and celebrate these achievements and continue to ensure that both homegrown and foreign talent keep having Malta as the launch pad for their iGaming career.”

Hon Schembri concluded his speech by presenting the first-ever ‘Hall of Fame’ Award to George Debrincat for his dedication to and proactivity in the industry since its inception.

Michael Pederson, CEO of iGaming commented, “iGaming Idol could not have happened without our headline partner Videoslots.com, our Platinum sponsors GamingMalta, IGT, Microgaming and BetConstruct, our Silver sponsor StudioSeven, and the many other sponsors and contributors who have made this, as well as the industry at large, a benchmark in gaming excellence.”

iGaming Idol is built on three pillars, the recognition of individuals, entertainment and charity. To support this, the organisers raised over €20,000 for the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation this year alone.
