It possesses the biggest shares on the global market and has been holding leader’s position almost since the origins. Set up by Andrew Black and Edward Wray in year 2000. Being the largest betting exchange in the world, employs more than 2000 people in the UK, conducting about millions of transactions a day for three million customers. The company’s facilities are also based in Australia and New Zealand and other European countries.
Another influential company with huge shares on the market and 2.700 betting shops around the world is Ladbrokes plc. The company offers retail bookmaking with facilities stationed in countries like Ireland, Belgium, Spain and the UK. It recorded revenues of 1,566 mln in 2011. In iGaming segment the company processes almost 800,000 bets from many countries. It includes services in poker, bingo, sportsbook and other. Messr Schwind and Pendleton in 1886 were the founding fathers of Ladbrokes. Currently, Peter Erskine is the chairman and Richard Glynn, the CEO of the company.
In 2011 a merger of two companies formed bwin.party, a one of the leaders on iGaming market. Originally bwin was a company founded in 1997 dealing only with betting. The company operates in France, Italy, Alderney, Gibraltar and the UK, reaching revenues of $691 mln in 2011. Employs circa 3,100 people around the world, operating in brands bwin, PartyPoker, PartyCasino and FoxyBingo. Focuses on following segments: technology, marketing and customer services.
William Hill has a long corporate story starting in 1934 and since its beginnings has been focusing on bookmaking services, nowadays also online gaming. The company operates in the UK and Irealand with 2.377 betting shops. It controls over one million bets per day with revenues of $1,823 million in 2011. The services of the company also offer: poker, bingo and sportsbook with online reach to 175 countries. William Hill has acquired around 1,1 mln of registered customers around the globe.
