Betsson revenue boosted by World Cup
Malta-based operator Betsson acknowledged that the Brazil World Cup was the driving force behind the company’s increase in revenue during this year’s second quarter, compared with the same quarter last year. The company netted a total revenue of €82 million, up by 30% from last year’s quarter.
Sportsbook turnover reached record highs during the World Cup finals. The company reported that sportsbook turnover during the national team tournament is a record for the company. The World Cup final itself accounted for €4 million of total turnover in the competition, compared to the average turnover during the tournament of €1.5 million per match.
Magnus Silfverberg, president and chief executive officer of Betsson, said: “Betsson posted organic growth of 15% during the second quarter, which proves that the company’s strategic initiatives are continuing to show results and that the company provides a world class customer experience.
“The World Cup has exceeded our expectations and the strong customer intake together with the high reactivation of existing customers bodes well for the future.”
