An interview with Arnaud Serour

Karamba managing director shares his industry experience

Hi Arnaud. How did you find your way into the iGaming industry, and eventually to Karamba? What keeps you engaged with this industry?

I got into iGaming by accident, actually. It was back in 2007, I was looking for a job and a ‘refer a friend’ programme brought me in. I didn’t target this industry particularly, but since I was born with a casino chip in hand it was a perfect match for me! Seven years of experience later, in early 2014, I joined Aspire Global as Director of Operations, later to become VP Operations, and this year I became Managing Director of Karamba. Working  in iGaming is more than just a profession for me – it’s also one of my favourite interests, which is great, because while gambling I can tell my wife that I am working and testing slots for Karamba…

We hear you’re doing some innovative stuff with AI in your ‘KaramBot’. What’s special about it, and do you see this innovation catching on in the industry at large?

Every Operator offers bonuses, free spins and a variety of slots or betting options. At Karamba we believe differently, and we’re constantly focused on improving our unique user experience. The Karambot is the perfect example. This new sports book innovation utilises artificial intelligence to analyse years of sport data, providing our players with smarter bet recommendations pre-match, but also live and at all points in the game. So stop gambling and start betting!

Overcoming the trust gap is a big factor in iGaming, be it casino, sportsbook or anything else. How does the KaramBot help foster a good relationship with the player?

KaramBot reinforces any player activity with an infinite amount of bet suggestions, helping to establish a great relationship with its users through transparency, and always giving the player relevant tips. A player can set up his own bet advice preferences such as Goal Frenzy, dropping odds, over under and many others that I invite you to discover by yourself!

Is there another application of AI/machine learning that you expect to come to iGaming in the near future?

Let me tell you that the Karambot was only the 2018 appetizer! We are constantly working to improve the player’s level of ‘excitement’. Unfortunately, I cannot divulge further details at this point…

How concerned are you about regulatory developments that govern the industry?

Karamba is a brand with a core focus on regulated markets. I truly believe that for players’ protection, any new regulation step is crucial – even if at times it creates serious technical and operational challenges, we fully embrace any new regulatory requirement. In regulated markets margins are lower, but secured.
