Bolivia is on the road to legalising online Gambling after new amendment to the Bolivian Lottery and Gambling Law proposed
The Bolivian Gambling Authority has proposed adding the online Gambling vertical to law in a new draft amendment to the Bolivian Lottery and Gambling Law. Law 060, which has been proposed by the Authority (Autoridad de Fiscalización del Juego, AJ) aims to boost the economy, create more jobs and generate wealth in the country.
AJ Executive Director Juan Carlos Antonio Abrego has proposed a new agenda for the institution, including the presentation of a draft amendment to the Bolivian Lottery and Gambling Law.
According to Abrego, reforming the current legislation will attract new investors to the sector and set the necessary conditions to build an improved gaming industry in Bolivia, contributing to the eradication of illegal websites in the country and ensuring an efficient control of online gambling by the regulators. Moreover, together with the inclusion of new verticals, an Online Controll System (SICEL) is also part of the project, with the objective of enabling the control of slots machines.
From the perspective of administrative aspects, Abrego highlighted that frameworks to improve contract processes have been greatly discussed with the objective of ensuring integrity and transparency in the public sphere. In addition, considering the political and economic issues faced by the country due to the Covid-19 crises, Bolivian policymakers are considering the gaming industry as an alternative to boost the economy, create more jobs and generate wealth in the country.
Another interesting aspect is that the Bolivian Gambling Authority has been working hard to enhance and improve technological processes to enable the granting of online authorisations and procedures related to business promotions.
